UOB unveils branch in Hanoi

It comes after the incorporation of UOB Vietnam as a foreign-owned subsidiary bank.

UOB Vietnam has unveiled its first branch in Hanoi in a move that comes a year after the incorporation of UOB Vietnam as a foreign-owned subsidiary bank.

The branch is located at 1 Thanh Nien Road, Truc Bach Ward, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi City.

"It will enable us to connect customers to the opportunities that Vietnam offers and to support Vietnamese companies in seizing opportunities across ASEAN and further afield," Wee Ee Cheong, Deputy Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer of UOB said in a statement.

UOB Vietnam received regulatory approval from the State Bank of Vietnam to set up a branch in December 2018. 

The bank was the first Singapore player to set up a representative offices in Ho Chi Minh in 1993. UOB earlier unveiled a digital-only bank in Thailand as part of its growing focus on ASEAN.
