Alipay+ touches down in the Philippines revealing three new mobile wallets

It will be made available to merchants in Manila and Cebu.

Ant Group, the operator of Alipay+, a global cross-border digital payment and marketing solution, announced that the Philippines now accepts four mobile wallets.

These include AlipayHK from Hong Kong SAR, Kakao Pay from South Korea, Touch 'n Go eWallet from Malaysia, and Alipay from the Chinese mainland, which Filipino merchants have been accepting since 2017.

This development enables travellers from these regions to utilise a seamless cashless experience using their home mobile wallets, aligning with the growing trend of digital payments for day-to-day transactions.

Alipay+ is currently accepted by merchants in Manila and Cebu, the two most frequently visited cities in the Philippines before the pandemic in 2019.

Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) is the second largest airport in the Philippines, serving over 11 million passengers annually and ranking as the country's second busiest airport.
