Thailand’s KTC, Ant Group launch Alipay+ services in Thailand
Tourists can now pay using AlipayHK, Touch ‘n Go eWallet, and Kakao Pay.
Thailand’s Krungthai Card (KTC) and Ant Group has launched Alipay+ payment services on the KTC payment gateway.
With this, Asian tourists in Thailand can now pay using AlipayHK, Touch ‘n Go eWallet, and Kakao Pay in any merchants that use KTC Thailand’s payment gateway.
King Power and The Mall, two of KTC’s leading partners in the duty-free and retail businesses, will be the first to offer Alipay+ payment services on the KTC system.
Merchants simply need to make a one-time connection to the system to be able to reach up to 1 billion consumers in Asia without the need to manually connect one-to-one, said Naowarat Keratikasemsook, head of merchant acquiring for KTC.
“When customers travel to Thailand and already have a mobile wallet in the Alipay+ ecosystem, they are able to use their local mobile wallet to pay merchants in Thailand immediately,” Keratikasemsook said.
Currently, KTC member merchants can accept payment for products or services via mobile wallet QR codes in the Alipay+ ecosystem, she added.
