His presentation will cover the significance of open banking.

Chun Man Hui, regional principal solutions architect at Software AG Asia, will join the Manila leg of the 2018 Asian Banking and Finance Retail Banking Forum on 28 February.

With more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry focusing on solution consulting, mainly in the financial services sector, and working with major IT vendors, Man Hui was involved in various major projects for some of the biggest banking corporations in Asia.

The brief interview below reveals his background, business philosophies, and more.

What are your previous experiences and positions held that contributed to who you are as an expert today?
I have been a software solution professional/evangelist/architect for over 20 years with extensive regional exposure in Asia Pacific, having been based in Hong Kong, China (4 years) and Singapore (4 years). I have worked in various multinational software companies, as a professional services consultant, solution principal/director in the area of ERP, CRM, SOA, BPM, CEP, in-memory data and big data applications in different industries, but with a strong focus on FSI. Throughout my profession I have worked directly with numerous banks throughout the region, including some of the leading and most innovative banks in Asia.

What are your key business philosophies?
My philosophy is straightforward: help provide the software that gives our customers the power to change the world, starting with their own. I’d like to play a part in helping them to connect , extend and evolve their IT infrastructure to make things brighter, smarter, simpler, and faster for the world around us all. When I talk about success, I speak of our customer’s success and enjoy spotlighting their achievements. I will never compromise the success of our customers.

Can you give us a glimpse of what you will talk about at the Asian Banking and Finance Retail Banking Forum?
I will talk about the future of banking, which is OPEN. Whether paying for coffee with their watch or having all their finances on a mobile app, consumers are demanding banks to open up and share data with trusted third parties. Open bank is here. Are you ready? Be ready. I will discuss how APIs are helping banks monetise open banking for a significant business advantage. I hope to inspire attendees and help them prepare, plan, and take the next steps.
