At the Retail Banking Forum 2018, Mohit will present the topic “The Ten Big Shifts in ASEAN and the associated opportunities and risks for Financial Institutions” and give an in depth discussion on the following:

Recent shifts in technology and consumer behavior are creating new needs and problems to solve. We analyzed the ten big shifts that have deep implications on financial institutions and their client franchise. These shifts are fundamentally changing the business environment and the way in which value is created and captured. Traditionally value chains operate and optimise in self-contained markets and companies, whilst today value webs connect and collaborate in complex and dynamic ecosystems. A fundamental implication of ecosystems is the need for companies to shift from a linear orientation to a true web orientation in creating and capturing value.

Financial institutions need to re-think source of competitive advantage i.e. from Brand, IP, Talent, Scale, Assets, Regulation to an approach which combines new sources of value with traditional levers e.g. in the world of customers: delivering value nuanced utility and creating connection, in the world of platforms: facilitating new ways to trade and co-create and in the world of data: turning data into better decisions and outcomes.
