UnionBank new branch in CARAGA to appease govt workers
UnionBank opened a branch in Butuan City to finally make its presence in the CARAGA region and finally pacify irate government workers.
The Government Service Insurance System awarded its E-Card System, which channels loans and dividends of government workers through ATMs, to Union Bank. But as of late, there were no UnionBank branches in the entire Caraga Region consisting of the provinces of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur.
Thus each time a GSIS member makes a transaction in the ATM's of other banks affiliated with the same network as the UnionBanks, such as Banc Net and Megalink, a corresponding service charge is levied and directly deducted from the account of the member.
This in effect penalizes the GSIS members for accessing their own accounts as they are forced into using the ATM's of other banks in view of the absence of UnionBank branches in Caraga.
With the addition of the Butuan branch, the Bank now has a complement of 170 branches in its nationwide network.
The Butuan branch is housed in the ground floor of the CAP building, located at the corner of 2 major thoroughfares in the Libertad district – the Jose C. Aquino and Jose Rosales Avenues.
