NCR named global leader in multivendor ATM software

Firm’s comprehensive software portfolio and services capabilities have helped more lenders reduce costs and grow revenue.

Research published by Retail Banking Research (RBR) shows that NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) is the world’s largest supplier of multivendor ATM middleware and applications. Regionally, the report found that Asia-Pacific, Western Europe and North America accounted for 80 percent of the multivendor software installations, with Western Europe having the largest number of ATMs by region. Asia Pacific has the second largest base of multivendor software at 25% second only to Western Europe that is at 39%.

The “Multivendor Software 2010” study included in depth interviews with 66 financial services organizations in 39 countries who collectively have deployed more than 310,000 ATMs. The study found that approximately 450,000 ATMs globally run multivendor software, a nearly 60 percent increase over the past two years. According to the report, NCR leads all providers with 29 percent of the global market share for ATM applications.

“More financial institutions are turning to multi-vendor software to reduce costs, increase revenue, foster more customer loyalty and help their customers interact with their bank when, where and how they choose”, said Nikhil Mhapankar, regional marketing manager, software in South Asia Pacific for NCR.

“We are pleased that so many financial institutions view NCR as the partner they trust to deliver technical expertise and support on a local level. Our APTRA suite offers the most comprehensive set of software applications available today, delivering leadership features and a rich set of management tools.”

Most notably, substantially more financial institutions in North America rely on NCR’s APTRA software suite than the next three providers combined, and RBR also finds that NCR holds market share leads in Western Europe and Latin America. NCR has been the worldwide leader in ATM hardware for 23 consecutive years.
