Bank of East Asia unveils its new e-cheque service

Customers can settle and receive payments in 3 currencies.

The Bank of East Asia's new e-Cheque service allows Cyberbanking and Corporate Cyberbanking customers to issue and deposit cheques electronically anytime, anywhere.

The new e-Cheque service simplifies the cheque payment process for personal and corporate customers. Through Cyberbanking and Corporate Cyberbanking, customers can settle and receive payments by e-Cheque in Hong Kong dollars, Renminbi, or US dollars. Payments can be made in three simple steps: 1) by providing e-cheque details online, 2) signing the e-cheque, and 3) emailing the cheque to the payee. The payee can then upload the e-cheque and select the deposit account using the same online service. Each cheque amount will be credited to the selected account immediately, eliminating the need to visit a BEA branch in person. Customers can conveniently view issued and deposited e-Cheques online, for easy account management. The process is quick and simple, and e-Cheques have a positive impact on the environment by reducing paper usage.

Mr. Tong Hon-shing, Deputy Chief Executive & Chief Operating Officer of BEA, was a guest of honour at today’s e-Cheque launch ceremony hosted by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. “Customer convenience is always a priority for my colleagues and me,” said Mr. Tong. “We are excited to announce e-Cheque payment, as cheque payment is a widely used form of payment, yet it is constrained by the need to present a physical item. By making the process electronic, we have created a service that is even more convenient and easier to manage.”

For more information on BEA’s e-Cheque service, please call our Cyberbanking Hotline on (852) 2211 1321 or visit BEA’s website at www.hkbea.com.
