Chart of the Week: Check out Malaysian banks' total deposits vs CASA growth

System deposits are on a gradual uptrend.

According to Maybank Kim Eng, total system deposits rose at a moderate pace of 3.8% YoY but there is a gradual uptrend. CASA expanded at a faster pace of 9.7% YoY versus 8.3% YoY in Mar 2017.

"By deposit holder, business deposits expanded for the second consecutive month and by 4% YoY, after having contracted over the previous nine consecutive months. Retail deposits grew 5.0% YoY from 5.7% YoY in Mar 2017."
