AgBank VP fired for taking huge bribes

Yang Kun is highest-ranking bank executive to be investigated for corruption.

Yang has also been expelled by the Communist party and stripped of his public offices for corruption. State media said Yang, who was vice-president of the Agricultural Bank of China, exploited his position to seek benefits for other people in return for huge bribes.

Yang was investigated by the Communist party’s internal disciplinary body. His case has been handed over to judicial authorities, which likely means that a criminal trial will follow.

He is the highest-ranking bank executive to be investigated for corruption since China's Big Four state-owned banks held stock market flotations.

Appointments at Big Four banks are controlled by the ruling Communist party, which strictly controls finance in China.
